DESTROYER is the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past. (2018, Karyn Kusama, USA, English, CC available upon request, 121 min, R)

“Karyn Kusama sketches out the architecture for an impressive epic of desire, guilt, and shame that moves the police drama past its generic, one-note and largely male roots.” — Rebecca Liu, Another Gaze

“It’s a satisfyingly twisted thriller overall, with a rare feminine trifecta of star, director and cinematographer – Kidman, Kusuma and Kirkwood – all kicking into high gear.” — Barry Paris, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

“At the center of it all is Kidman, the indisputable heart of the film, whose all-in performance elevates Destroyer above a well-made cop drama and into something special.” — Katie Rife, AV Club
