Science on Screen: A Series
In recognition of the tremendous interest in the Science on Screen program, we are announcing TWO additional titles that will screen as part of the series! On Monday, April 2nd BOMBSHELL: THE HEDY LAMARR STORY will by followed by a discussion with Dr. Alice Pawley, Associate Professor at the School of Engineering Education and an affiliate faculty member in the Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies Program and the Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University. Two weeks after that, on Monday, April 16th, Dr. Jennifer Dungar, Assistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at UIUC will discuss Wes Anderson’s new movie ISLE OF DOGS!
Join The Art Theater every Monday between February 12th and March 12th for a Movie and Post-Screening Discussion led by an expert in a field related to the film’s themes.

February 12th: Gattaca, featuring Gene Robinson, Director of the Institute for Genomic Biology (this date is sponsored by the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology)
February 19th: Ex Machina, featuring Rhanor Gillette, Emeritus Professor of Molecular and Integrative Physiology (this date is sponsored by the Beckman Institute)
February 26th: Close Encounters of the Third Kind, featuring Dave Leake, Director of the Staerkel Planetarium
March 5th: Empire of the Ants, featuring May Berenbaum, Professor and Head at the Department of Entomology at UIUC and Founder and Organizer of the Insect Fear Film Festival
March 12th: Robot & Frank, featuring Amy LaViers, Assistant Professor of Mechanical Science and Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
